Hudson River Heritage Annual Founders’ Scholarship

hrhscholarship 2016

This year’s $1000 Founders’ Scholarship Award was presented to graduating senior Theodore Walter Gadsby at Rhinebeck High School’s June 25th Commencement ceremony by Hudson River Heritage Vice President Kiki Steele.  This scholarship is an educational component of the Hudson River Heritage mission of preserving the unique character of the Mid-Hudson Valley’s historic architecture, rural landscapes and scenic views through education, advocacy and community involvement.

Applicants must be college-bound high school seniors from the Landmark District’s component school districts of Hyde Park, Rhinebeck, Red Hook and Germantown who have shown an interest in the history of the area and have demonstrated this interest through participation in related activities.  Walter’s compelling application, essay, and interview on the significance of our local history made him the unaminous choice of the HRH Scholarship Committee.   He will be attending Bowdoin College this fall and is planning to major in history.
